In a shocking incident, a dispute over photos escalated into deadly violence, ending in the tragic death of a Florida woman—all while being live-streamed on social media.
Savon Tyler, 35, now faces charges of premeditated first-degree murder after allegedly shooting Lauren Martin, 34, during what police described as a “mutual-combat” fight.
Tragic Discovery on Travertine Terrace
Sanford police responded to a shooting on Travertine Terrace just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday. They found a woman, later identified as Lauren Martin, lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.
Martin was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Argument Over Photos Spirals Out of Control

This tragic incident started with an argument between Tyler and Martin over photos Martin had taken of Tyler.
Martin’s family told WESH that she was a photographer, and disagreements over these photos led to tension between the two.
What began as a verbal dispute quickly spiraled, with the two women reportedly trading punches as emotions flared. Disturbingly, the entire altercation was broadcast live on social media, highlighting a troubling side of today’s online culture.

According to Sanford Police, “Both Lauren and Tyler engaged in a verbal altercation, which then escalated to a physical fight. During the altercation, Tyler shot Lauren multiple times.”
Police have confirmed they obtained footage of the encounter, which will be critical in the ongoing investigation.
Heartbroken Family Speaks Out
Martin’s family is devastated, struggling to understand how a disagreement over photographs could lead to such a tragic end.
Jessica Burks, Martin’s aunt, expressed disbelief and frustration:
“Someone went online and made a comment… then another person went online and made a comment just back and forth, and it spiraled out of control from there.”
Burks shared that Martin, as a photographer, often had to manage difficult clients but could never have imagined an argument turning deadly.
Violent Confrontation and Tragic Outcome
Court records reveal that Tyler armed herself with a “children’s miniature baseball bat” and a “9mm Sky handgun” as she saw Martin approaching her home, as reported by The New York Post.
The two women then engaged in what police called a “mutual-combat style fistfight” before the situation took a deadly turn.
Tyler allegedly opened fire, and police later found Martin lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds.
Sanford police responded to the scene shortly after 7 p.m., discovering Martin critically injured and lying in the road.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Tyler was arrested at the scene without incident and is now being held in Seminole County Jail with no bond, facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder.
Social Media’s Role in Escalating Conflict
This tragedy serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of social media-fueled conflicts.
Families and authorities alike urge the public to think twice before allowing online disagreements to spiral.
“Disagreements online aren’t worth losing a life,” Burks said, hoping this serves as a stark warning.
Investigation Continues
As the investigation progresses, police are reviewing the livestream footage and other evidence to build their case. Public interest is intense, and many are waiting to see how this heartbreaking case unfolds.
