Brian Thompson was struck in the chest and transported to Mount Sinai West hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead, sources reported.

Brian Thompson’s wife, Paulette Thompson, 51, confirmed that her husband had mentioned receiving threats, according to CNN. Sources also confirmed that Brian Thompson and Paulette Thompson were living in separate homes in Maple Grove, Minn., and had been for years, the Wall Street Journal reports.
“He said there had been some threats,” Paulette shared in a phone interview with NBC News. “I don’t have all the details, but it seemed like there were people making threats against him. It might have been tied to a lack of coverage or something along those lines—I really don’t know.”



Paulette chose not to provide additional details about the threats when speaking with CNN but expressed her heartbreak over the tragic loss.

“This senseless act has left us devastated,” she told CNN. “Brian was a loving, generous, and talented man who truly embraced life and impacted so many. Above all, he was a dedicated father to our two sons, and his absence will be felt profoundly.”
