A harrowing 911 call has surfaced from a high-profile Amber Alert case in Ohio, capturing the terrified cries of 7-year-old Oaklynn Alexander as her father, Charles Ryan Alexander, led police on a dangerous chase. The November 11, 2024, ordeal ended with Alexander being fatally shot by authorities, while Oaklynn was rescued unharmed.
Oaklynn was abducted Monday afternoon in Empire, Ohio, and safely reunited with her family, officials confirmed. According to the Columbus Dispatch, Charles Ryan Alexander took his daughter from her grandmother’s home following an argument. Initially driving a Ford F-150, the two later switched to a U-Haul truck, which police tracked to Brunswick.

The tragic sequence of events began when Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, abducted his 7-year-old daughter, Oaklynn Alexander, from her grandmother’s home in Jefferson County. Earlier that day, Alexander had unsuccessfully attempted to pick Oaklynn up from her school.
Frustrated, Charles Ryan Alexander later took Oaklynn from her grandmother’s residence, escalating the situation and prompting authorities to act swiftly.An Amber Alert was issued shortly after the abduction, detailing Alexander’s vehicle description and urging the public to be on the lookout, as reported by The Medina County Sheriff’s Office.
Police described him as armed and dangerous, intensifying the urgency of the search.By evening, officers from the Brunswick Division of Police located Alexander’s car, leading to a tense and chaotic high-speed chase through Medina County.
Law enforcement deployed stop sticks to deflate the car’s tires, forcing Alexander to halt in a parking lot in Medina Township. It was here that the standoff began, with Alexander threatening to harm both himself and Oaklynn, as 911 dispatchers scrambled to de-escalate the situation.
911 Call Captures Terrifying Exchange
In the moments leading up to the standoff, a haunting 911 call recorded the interaction between Alexander, dispatchers, and Oaklynn. According to a PEOPLE report, Alexander made ominous threats, stating he was armed and prepared to harm both himself and his daughter. His chilling words, “I will shoot us both, stand back!” were met with Oaklynn’s frightened pleas: “Please don’t.”
During the call, Oaklynn, clearly distressed, asked her father, “How do you know we’re going to heaven?” Alexander responded calmly, “We’ll both go,” to which Oaklynn tearfully replied, “I don’t want to go to heaven today.”
Dispatchers made every effort to de-escalate the situation. One urged Alexander, “Let’s not do anything we can’t undo,” while another encouraged him to comfort Oaklynn: “Keep talking to her if you don’t want her to be scared.” Despite their efforts, the encounter ended in tragedy.
Standoff Ends in Fatal Shooting
As negotiations broke down and Alexander's threats escalated, officers were forced to make a split-second decision to ensure Oaklynn’s safety. Despite repeated attempts by dispatchers to calm him down and dissuade him from harming himself or his daughter, Alexander refused to cooperate. With Oaklynn’s life hanging in the balance, officers acted decisively, fatally shooting Alexander during the standoff, as confirmed by The Medina County Sheriff's Office.
Oaklynn was immediately rescued from the vehicle, physically unharmed, but visibly shaken. Emergency responders on the scene provided immediate care and transported her to a safe location.
While she escaped without physical injury, the psychological and emotional toll of witnessing such a traumatic event is likely profound.
