Her twin sister, Samantha, encountered her at around 7:15 a.m., discovering Michelle in the driver’s seat of her Nissan Rogue with an unknown assailant in the passenger seat, holding her at gunpoint. Samantha attempted to follow them, but the situation escalated dramatically when another vehicle tried to run her off the road while shooting at her and her child, narrowly missing them.
Forced Bank Withdrawals: A Disturbing Demand

However, the bank staff denied the request, citing its unusually large amount.Instead, Michelle was only able to withdraw $2,000, a decision that would ultimately lead to devastating consequences. Following this failed attempt, the kidnappers tried to withdraw cash at a second bank but were again unsuccessful when bank staff insisted that the transaction be conducted inside.
Discovery of Michelle Hampton's Body
Later that day, police received a call reporting a shooting in the rear of 4745 Greer Avenue in St. Louis. Responding officers found Michelle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered a .40 caliber cartridge casing and discovered surveillance footage that captured the moments leading to her murder.
The video showed Michelle walking with an unknown person down an alleyway, followed closely by a yellow RAM truck, which ultimately parked nearby. It was at this moment that the assailant shot and killed Michelle before fleeing the scene in the truck.

Was Michelle Hampton's Twin Sister Involved in Her Murder?
In statements to authorities, Samantha expressed suspicions about her boyfriend, Anjuan Mosby, who faces charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. According to court documents from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District, obtained by KSDK, Samantha had recently told Mosby about a $40,000 settlement Michelle was holding for their brother, hinting at a potential financial motive for the crime. Samantha's fears grew even stronger after her interview with police.
According to court documents, obtained by KSDK, Samantha noted that she had not seen Mosby since he left their home on the morning of the kidnapping, describing this as unusual. "She expressed fear to return home after her interview with the police because she was afraid that Mosby was involved in Michelle's kidnapping," as reported by Law & Crime.
As the investigation unfolded, Samantha utilized the Life360 location-sharing app to keep track of her sister's whereabouts, which ultimately led police to discover Michelle's abandoned phone, as reported by KSDK.
Despite her fears and the trauma of witnessing her sister's abduction, authorities have not directly implicated Samantha in any wrongdoing.
Arrest of Suspects: Anjuan Q. Mosby and Emmanuel Suarez
In a chilling confession, Anjuan Q. Mosby, 43, the boyfriend of Michelle's twin sister, Samantha, revealed the disturbing plot behind Michelle Hampton's abduction. During an interview with police, Mosby, who pleaded not guilty in federal court on Monday, admitted to conspiring with others to kidnap Michelle, with the intention of forcing her to withdraw money from her accounts before eventually letting her go.

To conceal his whereabouts, Mosby disclosed that he had left his phone at his brother's home, a calculated move to hide his location data. He acknowledged being part of the group that kidnapped Michelle from her residence, stating, “I was in the passenger seat of the yellow Dodge Ram.”
The situation escalated dramatically when Samantha, unaware of her boyfriend's involvement, followed the kidnappers after witnessing the chaos. In a desperate attempt to save her sister, she pursued the vehicle, only to be met with gunfire. Mosby confessed to firing a shot at Samantha's car during the escape, a harrowing moment that forced her to stop the pursuit.
His alleged accomplice, Emmanuel Suarez, 36, was arrested on November 22 and charged with felony weapon possession, facing up to 15 years in prison. Both men have a substantial criminal history, with multiple convictions dating back decades. Court records reveal that they face a myriad of state-level charges, including first-degree murder, robbery, and kidnapping.

Investigative Breakthroughs: How Authorities Pieced Together the Case
Investigators utilized various methods to reconstruct the timeline of events leading to Michelle's tragic death. Using the Life360 application, authorities tracked her location during the kidnapping, revealing that the two suspects had visited numerous banks in the area.

They discovered that the kidnappers had made a stop at a PNC drive-up window on Page Boulevard, where Michelle attempted to withdraw the initial $10,000.

Following her unsuccessful withdrawal, the vehicle attempted to withdraw cash at another PNC location on Chippewa but sped away after being asked to complete the transaction inside.
At approximately 10:56 a.m., a ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the alley behind 4745 Greer Avenue, where Michelle's body was found shortly thereafter.
Investigators utilized location data from AT&T to trace where the yellow RAM truck was parked. Upon obtaining a search warrant, police recovered the truck, discovering an empty PNC bank envelope inside.

Additionally, authorities found a sweatshirt that matched the description of the suspect’s attire from surveillance footage in a nearby dumpster. DNA testing confirmed traces of Anjuan Mosby’s DNA on the garment.
